Describe the setting: In a forest in the Eastern Carpathians, probally about mid 1800s
Type of Conflict: Man vs Man
Describe the main conflict: The main conflict is that Ulrich von Gradwitz is mad at Georg Znaeym for poaching on what he thinks is his land.
Describe the Climax of the Story: I think the climax is when Ulrich thinks his men are coming and both men are happy and then he realizes that its a pack of wolves.
How do the Protagonists change over the course of the story? The 2 protagonists (Ulrich and Georg) start off hating each other because there generations hated each others family, but after they get trapped under the tree Ulrich offers some wine to Georg. He didn’t accept but i think he kind of realized Ulrich was a good guy. They shortly became friends and thats how they changed.
Describe the relationship between the title and the theme. The title is Interlopers which means a trespasser, and the theme is that people who hate each other because of something that happened in the past doesn’t mean that they hate each other. And even though Georg was a Interloper they still were able to be friends for the short time they could.
How does the main conflict help to illustrate the theme? The main conflict is the 2 men hating each other, and the theme is that people cant always hate people because of what happened in the past between other people, and that people can change. The men start off hating each other but they realize that they are friends and don’t hate each other, that’s what the author is trying to tell you.
How does the climax help to illustrate the theme? Ulrich and Georg just became friends and were talking about all the things they were going to do together. Then they hear something coming and they get really excited because they think that its Ulrich’s men, but its wolves. Then they realize that they aren’t gong to live to be friends, and the families will still fight.
